ISLAMABAD: Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday recommended extension in the services of three additional judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for one year.
The JCP held its meeting in the Supreme Court building here in Islamabad which was presided over by the Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and attended by Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Maqbool Baqir, Justice Dost Muhammad, a former judge of Supreme Court, Chief Justice of PHC Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, representative of Pakistan Bar Council and Attorney General for Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan.
The JCP discussed the names of four PHC additional judges. After the commission recommended extending the services of three additional judges of Peshawar High Court, including Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, Justice Naeem Anwar, Justice Waqar Ahmed. It, however, refused to grant extension to Justice Ahmed Ali as additional judge of PHC. Later, CJ PHC Waqar Ahmed Seth withdrew the names of PHC Registrar Khawaja Waheed-ud-Din, Advocate Inam Khan, Sessions Judge Fazal Subhan and Younas Khan for appointment as additional judges of the PHC. The recommendations of the JCP will now go to Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment for approval.
