KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 134,611 tonnes of cargo comprising 101,097 tonnes of import cargo and 33,514 tonnes of export cargo including 3,738 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 101,097 tonnes comprised of 34,932 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,117 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 64,048 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 33,514 tonnes comprised of 11,901 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,750 tonnes of general cargo and 18,863 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 3,738 containers comprising of 2,733 containers of import and 1,005 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 407 of 20's and 995 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 168 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 234 of 20's and 316 of 40's loaded containers while 101 of 20's and 19 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Manet, Dolphin-II, Adhiraj and PAC Adara carrying containers, clinkers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessel carrying containers and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 226,510 tonnes comprising of 194,370 tonnes of import cargo and 32,140 tonnes of export cargo including 2,615 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 194,370 tonnes includes 50,262 tonnes of coal; 29,292 tonnes of LNG; 39,900 tonnes of gas oil; 18,200 tonnes of palm oil; 9,390 tonnes of soyabean; 1,000 tonnes of LPG; 14,660 tonnes of chemical and 32,566 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,140 tonnes includes 15,021 tonnes of cement and 17,119 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,615 containers comprising of 1,714 containers import and 901 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely MSC Paris and Gaslog Sydney carrying containers and LNG respectively sail out to sea on Tuesday morning, while five more ships namely ER Yokohama, Capitan Andreadis, Glory Harvest, Torm Astrid and Silver London carrying containers, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, cement, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. Express Rome, MSC Pina, MSC Marianna, BBC Song, PAC Anlares, Alexandra, Chemroad Journey, Kamila Kosan, Hanfia Arctic, Shalamar, Al-Salam-II, Ventage Rider, SC Petrel and Chemroad Singapore carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, soyabean, chemical, gasoline, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. MSC Pina, MSC Marianna, Maersk Hartford, Shalamar and Chemroad Singapore carrying containers, crude oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Hartford carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
