KARACHI: Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs), Hyderabad on Friday claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of smuggled Iranian HSD worth Rs 17.56 million.
According to details, credible information was received that two different consignments of smuggled Iranian Diesel would be transported from Hub Balochistan to different locations in Sindh. Reacting on this information, the Directorate to curb the menace of organized smuggling of POL products mounted stiff vigilance.
Consequently, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Directorate intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration No JQ-0946 which was transporting Iranian diesel under the cover of a fake invoice.
The team of SIU took the oil tanker along with the driver into custody and brought it to the office of the Directorate where 50,000 liters HSD was recovered. The driver has been arrested and FIR was lodged.
