ISLAMABAD: The disciplinary committee of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday slapped MNA Ahmed Hussain Deharr with a show cause notice for accusing party vice chairman of using backdoor channels to replace Prime Minister Imran Khan.
A statement issued by the PTI's Standing Committee on Accountability and Discipline said that a show cause notice was issued to Deharr by the committee chairman Salman Aftab. The notice was sent to Deharr after his interview with a private TV channel on 8th July 2020, during which, he made serious allegations against Qureshi.
"The interview is in violation of clause XII of PTI and his conduct was against the dignity of the MNA and the party's policy and constitution," said the statement. "He [the MNA] has been directed to appear in person before the sub-committee of standing committee on accountability and discipline on July 15 and explain the content of his interview," it added.
In an obvious reference to Qureshi, during the interview, Deharr had said: "What's happening with Imran Khan is that the person who sits with him wants to take his place." "Khan Sahab has trusted the people who are sitting with him, but they are not loyal," he had said.
The MNA did not name any PTI leader but criticised Qureshi for being responsible for corruption in Multan. The remarks by the PTI MNA came at a time when Prime Minister Imran Khan has himself rejected the reports of differences within his party and its allies. In his speech in the National Assembly, PM Khan had said the opposition parties were talking about the "minus-one formula" to save its corruption.
