THE RUPEE: Mixed trend

KARACHI: On Tuesday, Pakistan Rupee exhibited mixed trend where it remained unchanged against USD in interbank market while losing value for buying in open market. This mixed trend was also exhibited against other currencies in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee remained unchanged on market closing over yesterday's rates closing at 166.60 and 166.80 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR lost 10 paisas for buying and remained unchanged for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 166.60 and 167 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR lost one rupee for buying and 50 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 187 and 188.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and remained unchanged for selling closing at 44.90 and 45.15 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged for both buying and selling closing at 43.90 and 44.10 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed strength as it recovered its day earlier losses versus the greenback and the British pound in the local currency market on Tuesday.

Following lack of buyers' interest in the market, the greenback remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session and ended lower for buying and selling at Rs 166.50 and Rs 167.70 against the overnight closing trend of Rs 166.60 and Rs 168.00 respectively, local currency dealers said.

Likewise, the national currency also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 207.28 and Rs 209.00 against the Monday's closing rate of Rs 208.20 and Rs 209.90 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 50 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs167.50 (buying) and Rs 167.60 (selling) against last rate of Rs167 (buying) and Rs 167.10 (selling).

It closed at Rs167.50 (buying) and Rs 167.60 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs 112,700 (selling) and Rs 112,500 (selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
