Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association (PBEA) has while welcoming the removal of Tariq Iqbal Puri as Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) demanded appointment of "a committed professional" to head the body.
Chairman PBEA, Shabbir Ahmed in a statement issued here on Saturday appreciated the government's decision, describing it as a "good move" as Puri had failed to push country's export trade. "His only agenda was flying out of the country on joy trips", Shabbir said adding that Puri spent lot of the government and exporter's money on bringing "so-called" experts on high salaries.
The CE, TDAP never helped exporters in overcoming their difficulties, particularly their consignment shut-outs. Chairman PBEA expressed the hope that the government would consider revamping TDAP and make it vibrant by appointing a committed professional to head this important organisation. A professional who has the ability to work closely with the principal stakeholders, ie exporters so that new strategies could be developed to boost the country's exports which have not shown any impressive growth due to the lethargic and couldn't care less attitude to the outgoing Chief Executive.
