Marriage hall opening: Sindh to take decision as per centre's guidelines: minister

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday said the provincial government will take decision regarding the marriage hall opening as per guidelines from the federation.

The Information Minister said that the Sindh government is bound to abide by the policy formulated by the federal government on the issue of Coronavirus.

He was holding a meeting with marriage hall owners, and associations at Commissioner House.

Commissioner Karachi, Iftikhar Shalawani, Sindh Information Secretary was also present on the occasion.

The marriage hall owners expressed their concerns to the Sindh Local Government Minister regarding the closure of business in the face of Covid-19.

Shah said that consultation process with all stakeholders is underway and until there is no clear order from the Supreme Court or the federal government, matters need to be handled with utmost care Shah said all sectors have been badly affected due to the outbreak of global pandemic, but we will not compromise on human lives at any cost.

Shah told the participants of the meeting that the government of Sindh is fully aware of the current business and economic situation. Special relief measures are being taken for the business community on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister.

The Sindh government has always stood by its people and business community and inshallah we will soon defeat this epidemic together.

He said that limited number of marriages held in homes could not stopped.

The Information Minister assured the association if any decision was taken by the federal government to open marriage halls, "you are allowed to resume businesses."

Commissioner Karachi said SOPs would be fully implemented while the administration would take action against the violators after the opening of the marriage halls.
