The Punjab government has launched an app called 'Bakar Mandi Online' for the online purchase of sacrificial animals for Eid-ul-Adha amid global coronavirus pandemic.
Using this application, customers will not have to travel to cattle markets to buy animals during the COVID-19 season. The 'Bakar Mandi Online' application will have all the details of the animals including the age, weight, and breed of the animal.
“Bakar Mandi Online is to facilitate cattle purchase process on Eid ul Azha between buyer and seller. The seller can register and place cattle's ads mentioning cattle details along with pictures. The seller can register and can select from lists of cattle's ads that are put on sold. There are different filters available for the buyer to select his/ her choice of cattle,” read the description of the app developed by the Punjab IT Board.
It may be recalled that the Punjab government had recently issued SOPs for cattle markets on Eid-ul-Adha in view of the coronavirus. The Punjab Health Department has made it mandatory for every person to come to the market to wear masks and gloves.
The Health Secretary has directed that cattle markets should be set up in open space and at least 2 km away from the city while entrances, exits, and exits of administrative offices and medical camps should be kept separate and not more than two persons should be allowed in one vehicle.
