ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza has said the government is committed to introduce fundamental reforms by bringing primary healthcare based universal health coverage in the country.
In a statement on Sunday, he said by the grace of Almighty Allah and hard work, the government has been able to contain the Covid-19 pandemic through timely decisions, smart lockdown strategy, SOPs implementation and Trace, Test and Quarantine Strategy.
Dr Zafar Mirza said the issues being faced by health sector today in the country are the result of collective failure of all previous governments which never prioritized health needs of the people.
He said the incumbent government is fully aware of the problems of the health sector and working hard to fix them.
The Special Assistant said Pakistan's preparation and response to the COVID-19 has been one of the best in the world.
Dr Zafar Mirza dispelled the impression that the government is privatizing public sector hospitals and said that we are making these hospitals autonomous.-PR
