Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that Karachi will receive another spell of heavy rain on the weekend.

PMD Chief Sardar Sarfaraz said on Thursday that a low-pressure area is expected in India's Gujrat on July 24, adding that it would enter Pakistan through Indian Rann of Kutch.

Since July, the port city has received heavy rains which have led to the deaths of at least eight residents. On July 7, Karachi received its first monsoon spell which lasted three days. The rain disrupted electricity for hours and caused traffic jams on almost everywhere.

Similarly, in the second spell of heavy rain on July 18, the city saw widespread power outages and heavy traffic.
