ISLAMABAD: President-elect of the United Nations General Assembly Ambassador (UNGA) Volkan Bozkir will visit Pakistan on July 27, 2020 (Monday), Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said.

In a statement, the foreign minister said that during the visit of the UNGA president-elect to the country, he would present before him Pakistan's position on the situations in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir as well as the continued unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC).

He said that India was committing serious human rights violations in the occupied valley, while constantly violating the ceasefire agreement by targeting civilian population along the LoC and the Working Boundary. Referring to the recent visit of a foreign media delegation to Chirikot Sector along the LoC, he said that it was an important step to update the foreign media about the Indian aggression.

Qureshi said that India had always adopted a double standard and was showing reluctance to allow international observers and independent media to monitor the situation on the other side of the LoC.

"Pakistan invited the foreign journalists to show them the situations on the ground. Will India follow the suit and allow independent media to visit the occupied Jammu and Kashmir?" he questioned, adding that India was also restricting movement of the UN-deployed observers to hide the truth and the ground situation.

In the context of the Thursday's telephonic contact between Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, the foreign minister said that Pakistan desired to maintain good bilateral relations with Bangladesh.

"We want a good future by forgetting the bitterness of the past," he said, adding that Pakistan had also appointed a new high commissioner to Bangladesh. He pointed out that India was in estranged relationship with its neighbours including Pakistan, China, Nepal or Bangladesh.

"India is in a bad relationship with all the regional countries due to its Hindutva mindset," he said, adding that Iran had also expelled India from the Chabahar port project. "The so-called impression of "Shining India" has come to an end in a year due to the BJP government's policies," he added.
