Grenades hurled at businessman's house, police post

In two separate incidents on Sunday, unknown men hurled hand grenades on a traffic police post and a businessman's house, but the grenades did not go off in both the attacks. In the first incident, unknown men riding motorbike hurled grenade at the house of the businessman situated in Khyaban-e-Mujahid, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), in the limits of Darakshan police station.
Police said the accused threw hand grenade at house no 39/1 Street 22, and managed to escape. The grenade turned out to be dud. The Bomb Disposable Squad (BDS) rushed to the spot and took away the devise.
Sources said that extortionists were behind the attack as they have been threatening the businessman for extortion. In another incident, a traffic police post came under grenade attack near Teen Hatti, when motorcyclists threw hand grenade at the police post. The unidentified attackers late Sunday night threw a grenade at the check post, which fortunately did not explode.
PIB police said that police had found a hand grenade in front of the police post but it was early to say whether the post was attacked or not as nobody saw anyone throwing the grenade.
