09 Jul, 2012

The government had reopened Nato supply routes in the light of parliament's recommendations, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Sunday.
Talking to media persons after attending the concluding session of a six-day workshop held under the aegis of the South Asian Free Media Association (Safma) for journalists, he said that the government had endorsed parliament's recommendations to restore Nato supply routes.
About the provision of security for Nato containers, he said that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government would ensure full protection to Nato supplies, adding that it was a legal and constitutional obligation. According to him, security agencies and other relevant authorities had been prepared in this regard.
Expressing concern over the negative propaganda in connection with the restoration of Nato supply route in media, the minister urged the media to refrain from it. "We cannot live in isolation in a global village," he said, adding that there was a need for the establishment of peace and handling common challenges in this region.
