ISLAMABAD: The confirmed nationwide coronavirus cases have surged to 271,513 in Pakistan, with 5,778 deaths and 219,783 recoveries, the federal and provincial authorities have reported. According to data, in Sindh, the total Covid-19 cases have reached 116,800, in Punjab, 91,423, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 33,071, Balochistan 11,523, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 2,012, and in Gilgit-Baltistan 1,918.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, the province during the past 24 hours has recorded 294 additional Covid-19 cases and five new deaths. The total number of cases in Punjab is 91,423, while the provincial death toll is 2,105. As many as 68,439 patients have recovered from the virus.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the province recorded 917 new coronavirus cases, taking the total to 116,800. With 14 additional fatalities reported over the last 24 hours, Sindh's death toll has risen to 2,110, the highest of any province in Pakistan. Punjab has reported the second highest number of deaths at 2,105.
The KP Health Department has reported 173 new cases, taking the provincial total to 33,071 cases. While during the past 24 hour only one new death was reported in KP, which has taken the provincial total to 1,170 deaths.
This is the lowest death toll recorded in the KP since March. 262 new patients recovered taking the tally to 26,869. In total, 200,390 tests have been conducted in the KP. Balochistan has reported six coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, according to the provincial health department's daily situation report.
