ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has expressed alarm over the rapidly worsening wheat and flour crises in the country.
In a statement, she said the medicine, sugar and patrol 'thief mafia' was now looting the people's bread by creating wheat and flour crises.
"The government's intention to 'plunder' the nation and its incompetence and mismanagement has already landed the country in the worst crisis," she maintained, adding that the 'Imran-led mafia' government was playing with the national security by creating a food security crisis.
Aurangzeb said the sugar, wheat and flour crises in an agricultural country were a product of the worst-possible corruption, hoarding, illegal profiteering and anti-people policies. "The government is buying wheat from the farmers at Rs 1,400 per mound and selling it out to the public at Rs 2,100. The mismanagement of wheat has led to a flour crisis and prices are rising," she added.
The former minister further maintained that the government had kept on napping as locust swarms, fungus and pests ate up the country's crops which had led to wheat shortages in the country. "The need to artificially reduce flour prices is a result of the government's decision to release wheat at the wrong time. The "mafia"-controlled government has unsettled the market balance, and started a worst flour crisis in the country," she alleged. "This group of corrupt looters, incompetent and unqualified people created the electricity, gas, sugar, patrol and flour crises in the country," she maintained.
