ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday held telephonic contact with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan to enquire about the health of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and discuss other issues of mutual interests.
Foreign Office said in a statement that Foreign Minister Qureshi conveyed prayers and best wishes for swift recovery of King Salman, good health and long life on behalf of the people of Pakistan and on his own behalf.
Foreign Minister Qureshi apprised his Saudi counterpart of successful measures including smart lockdown undertaken by the Pakistan as part of the efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
The two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views regarding the Kingdom's decision of limited Hajj keeping in view the Covid-19 pandemic.
It further stated that the Foreign Minister condemned recent missile attacks of Houthi militia on various cities of Saudi Arabia and reiterated Pakistan's firm support to the Kingdom.
It stated that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal thanked the Foreign Minister for enquiring about the health of King Salman and conveyed that he is recuperating well. He appreciated the response of the Pakistan government in tackling the pandemic and conveyed that the Kingdom is also seeing a decrease in the number of the cases, it added.
The two foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact, it stated, adding that they also exchanged views on the upcoming session of United Nations General Assembly.
