KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 60,750 tonnes of cargo comprising 45,078 tonnes of import cargo and 15,672 tonnes of export cargo including 5,793 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 45,078 tonnes comprised of 23,910 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,085 tonnes of general cargo; 1,548 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 18,535 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 15,672 tonnes comprised of 7,119 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,553 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,793 containers comprising of 3,338 containers of import and 2,455 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 896 of 20's and 1,174 of 40's loaded while 48 of 20's and 23 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 535 of 20's and 348 of 40's loaded containers while 486 of 20's and 369 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Hansa America and Jal Laxmi carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels carrying containers, oil tankers and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 139,009 tonnes comprising of 116,342 tonnes of import cargo and 22,667 tonnes of export cargo including 1,439 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 116,342 tonnes includes 67,120 tonnes of coal; 26,044 tonnes of LNG; 10,370 tonnes of gas oil; 6,800 tonnes of soyabean; 720 tonnes of LPG; 614 tonnes of project cargo and 4,674 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,667 tonnes includes 22,667 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,439 containers comprising of 246 containers import and 1,193 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely Safmarine Ngami and Al-Areesh carrying containers and LNG respectively sail out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Berge Tronador carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG and gas oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. MSC Ishyka, Silver Lucky, Gwan, Chayanee Naree, Cariboo, Stove Ocean, Laura, White Fin, Gas Ionian, White Purl, BW Amazon, Al-Salam-II, Gulf Horizon, Marvel and Silver Philippa carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, project cargo, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, mogas, gas oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Ishyka, APL New York, Gas Ionian and Silver Philippa carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There was one ship namely APL New York carrying containers due to arrive on Monday.
