ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that Pakistan welcomed the United Security Council (UNSC) for again taking up the occupied Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which had been on its agenda for over 70 years.
In his tweet, prime minister said that the UNSC, under the United Nations (UN) charter not only had the responsibility for maintaining international peace and security but also ensuring implementation of its resolutions.
He added that Pakistan thanks the Council members who have expressed concern over the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in the IIOJK, advised against escalation of tension, underscored the need for respecting international law and called for a peaceful resolution of the dispute.
