Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 89,718 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,209 tonnes of import cargo and 7,509 tonnes of export cargo including 3,720 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 82,209 tonnes comprised of 40,810 tonnes of containerised cargo; 899 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 40,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 7,509 tonnes comprised of 5,214 tonnes of containerised cargo; 45 tonnes of general cargo and 2,250 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 3,720 containers comprising of 2,761 containers of import and 959 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 967 of 20's and 895 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 122 of 20's and 76 of 40's loaded containers while 09 of 20's and 338 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely YM Cosmos, Vantage Rider, Tai An Kou and Industrial Royal carrying containers, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 88,404 tonnes comprising of 57,303 tonnes of import cargo and 28,199 tonnes of export cargo including 3,150 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 57,303 tonnes includes 15,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,567 tonnes of mogas; 3,000 tonnes of canola; 4,300 tonnes of gas oil; 1,136 tonnes of LPG and 32,300 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 28,199 tonnes includes 449 tonnes of cement and 27,750 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,150 containers comprising of 1,700 containers import and 1,450 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely White Fin and Epic Salina carrying coal and LPG respectively sail out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Bentonville and Hansa America carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, chemical, canola, LPG, mogas, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. Jappesen Maersk, African Paza, Gas Chem Dollart, Gas Zeus, Tomson Gas, Till Jocob, Four Sky and Navig-8 Gallantry carrying containers, cement, chemical, LPG, mogas, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two ships viz. Gas Chem Dollart and Navig-8 Gallantry carrying chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were four ships namely Jappesen Maersk, Diyala, MSC Lusia and Al-Marrouna carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Saturday while two more ships namely MSC Jeanne and Galor Crystal carrying containers and LNG respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.
