LAHORE: In a step towards digitizing local government department services, the Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department will launch a pilot project of e-tendering and e-auction from Lahore next month (September).
In this connection, secretary Local Government and Community Development Punjab Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) chairman Azfar Mansoor chaired a meeting here on Monday and reviewed the project. Special Secretary Local Government Babar Aman Babar and PITB DG (IT) Sajid Latif were also present in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, the secretary said provision of civic services on modern lines was the need of the hour and only well-equipped local government department can meet the challenge. He further said that the IT-based activities will be introduced in the department. "PITB will collaborate in the pilot project," he added.
On the occasion, Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi announced that IT-based Annual Development Program (ADP) will also be launched soon. "Online ADP pilot project will start from Sheikhupura and Ferozwala and in next phase this project will be introduced all over the Punjab," he added. In this connection, he directed the Special Secretary to complete work on parameters as early as possible.
