ISLAMABAD: While global cases of Covid-19 have crossed the mark of 20 million, the situation in Pakistan has been improved with total 260,796 recoveries out of 284,947 nationwide cases.
According to data released by the federal and provincial authorities, Covid-19 has claimed 6,108 lives so far in Pakistan and there are 24,174 active cases in the country.
The US with 5.2 million cases and over 66,000 deaths is top on the global chart of most-affected countries followed by Brazil with over three million cases and more than 100,000 deaths.
India with 2.2 million cases and over 44,500 deaths is third on global ranking.
The Punjab government has confirmed 117 new coronavirus cases, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab, the emergence of 117 fresh cases have taken the provincial total to 94,477.
Punjab has also reported one additional fatality from the virus, taking the death toll to 2,170.
The PDMA Punjab said the provincial government over the past 24 hours conducted 7,711 tests, while 86,273 people have been recovered.
The Sindh government confirmed 278 new cases of Covid-19 in the province, taking the provincial tally to 124,127, according to the Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
The province also registered 10 more deaths, with its overall death toll from the virus rising to 2,282.
A total of 8,397 tests were conducted in Sindh during the last 24 hours, Shah said.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has reported 57 new coronavirus cases taking the provincial total to 34,692.
The province has also reported one more death taking the provincial death toll to 1,231.
With 70 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the province, so far 31,612 people have recovered, and active cases in the province are 1,849.
The government of Balochistan so far has reported 11,906 cases in the province, 138 deaths, and 10,372 recoveries, according to figures available at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
According to District Health Officer Islamabad (DHO), the capital city on Monday detected 20 more Covid-19 cases taking the Islamabad Capital Territory toll to 15,000 infections of which 175 have died.
The DHO office has advised the people to avert coronavirus spread by washing hands, disinfecting the surfaces, covering mouth while coughing and sneezing and wearing masks.
The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported nine more coronavirus positive cases, one death and 32 recoveries on Monday.
The total coronavirus cases in the AJK have reached 2,150 of which 59 have died, 1,915 have recovered and 176 are active cases.
