THE RUPEE: Another mixed behaviour

KARACHI: On Tuesday, Pakistan Rupee exhibited mixed behaviour like yesterday with a difference that it gained value against USD in both open and interbank markets while losing value against Euro in open market.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 15 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 168.15 and 168.30 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 30 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 168.30 and 168.70 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR lost 50 paisas for buying and one rupee for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 197.50 and 199 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR remained unchanged for buying while losing 5 paisas for selling closing at 45.60 and 45.75 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 5 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 44.45 and 44.60 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee failed to hold its day earlier losses versus the greenback and the British pound in the local currency market on Tuesday.

According to currency dealers, the short supply phenomenon of the greenback prevailed throughout the trading session which helped its appreciation for buying and selling at Rs 168.50 and Rs 169.50 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 168.20 and Rs 169.20 respectively.

Likewise, the rupee also followed suit in relation to the pound sterling that was bought and sold at Rs 219.00 and Rs 220.50 against the Monday's closing trend of Rs 218.00 and Rs 219.50 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 20 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs168.90 (buying) and Rs 169 (selling) against last rate of Rs168.70 (buying) and Rs 168.80 (selling).

It closed at Rs168.90 (buying) and Rs 169 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold increased to Rs128,200 (selling) and Rs128,000 (selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
