THE RUPEE: Positive behaviour

KARACHI: On Wednesday, Pakistan Rupee generally exhibited a positive behaviour. It gained value against USD in both interbank and open markets. It also either gained value or remained unchanged in open market against Euro, AED and SAR.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 15 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 168 and 168.20 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 168.20 and 168.50 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged over yesterday's rates closing at 197.50 and 199 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying while remaining unchanged for selling closing at 45.55 and 45.75 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR remained unchanged closing at 44.45 and 44.60 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee appreciated its worth on the buying side while it stayed unchanged on the selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Wednesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback lost 20 paisas during the trading session for buying and closed at Rs 168.30 against the opening rate of Rs 168.50 whereas it firmly sustained its overnight trend for selling at Rs 169.50.

Similarly, the national currency also recovered 30 paisas against the pound sterling for buying and ended at Rs 218.70 against the previous closing rate of Rs 219.00 while it did not observe any change for at Rs 22.50, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained 20 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs168.70 (buying) and Rs 168.80(selling) against last rate of Rs168.90 (buying) and Rs 169(selling).

It closed at Rs168.70 (buying) and Rs 168.80(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold increased to Rs128,200(selling) and Rs128,000(selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
