This is apropos a Business Recorder "Lahore uplift project: flawed approach?" carried by the newspaper yesterday. The newspaper was concluded its argument in relation to Ravi Riverfront Urban Project by saying that "... however, launching a mega project amidst much fanfare without appropriately looking at the feasibility would at best be subject to ridicule and at worst have a heavy political cost besides being contrary to the prime minister's repeated lamentations of previous governments of investing in mega projects rather than in projects of social uplift for the benefit of the people at large."
In this regard, I wish to mention here how Jamaat-e-Islami emir Sirajul Haq has reacted to this development. His is a sardonic comment. According to him, how the government can execute4 a project of multi trillion rupees when the national kitty does not have sufficient funds to meet education and healthcare sectors' needed.
