LAHORE: Emphasising the need for a new 'Charter of Democracy' and 'Charter of Economy', Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that all enmities need to be buried for the sake of country's progress.
While addressing a ceremony in connection with Independence Day celebrations in Lahore, Saad said, "We will reach our goals by sticking to our stance. We (parties) should have a new Charter of Democracy and Charter of Economy." He said the state institutions should ensure all enmities are buried for the sake of Pakistan's progress.
The PML-N leader said that the legal system should not be in shackles and ought to be free to dispense justice. If political leaders continue to pursue vendettas against each other, the country will continue to see an increase in hatred and enmities, he feared.
He said, "The business of accountability should stop and justice should take precedence." He added that only politicians can run the country and no system other than democracy can prevail in the long run.
