Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
According to media reports, head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), General Faiz Hameed also accompanied the army chief. The COAS's visit is aimed at damage control between the close nations after a recent statement by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Earlier in August, Qureshi had asked that the Saudi-led Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) convene a high-level meeting relating to Indian-occupied Kashmir.
"If you cannot convene it, then I’ll be compelled to ask Prime Minister Imran Khan to call a meeting of the Islamic countries that are ready to stand with us on the issue of Kashmir and support the oppressed Kashmiris,” Qureshi had said.
However, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar told Reuters that the visit was pre-planned and primarily military affairs oriented.
