EU funds should be used to support Belarus, says Polish deputy minister

WARSAW: European Union funds should be used to support Belarus, Poland's deputy foreign minister said on Monday, ahead of a video call scheduled for Wednesday, when the bloc's leaders will discuss developments in the country.

"The EU has an instrument in the form of the European endowment for democracy," Marcin Przydacz, deputy foreign minister said in a committee meeting in Poland's parliament.

"We would like such a signal to be sent from the perspective of the leadership of the EU, so that other countries would follow suit," he said.
