ISLAMABAD: Minister for Power Omar Ayub Monday said an agreement signed with the Independent Power Producers would lead to reducing the cost of power generation. While addressing a news conference along with Special Assistant on Power Shahzad Qasim, the minister said that the government was focused on reducing electricity prices, while improving electricity distribution system in the country. The minister said the agreement signed in the country's interest would also promote the industrial sector.
He said the government was going to introduce reforms in the energy sector, which would enable Pakistan to generate 70 percent energy through indigenous resources. He said those reforms would be unfolded before the public within three weeks.
