LAHORE: Terming agriculture sector as backbone of the country's economy, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said on Tuesday that a committee has been formed in the National Assembly for recommending reforms in agriculture sector and also asked for formation of a similar committee in Punjab.
He said this while talking to media after a meeting with acting Governor Punjab Ch. Parvez Elahi, here at the Governor's House today. Asad Qaiser said he met with Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar and Ch Parvez Elahi, who is a senior politician. "We have taken the country forward according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan," he said.
Ch. Parvez Elahi told media that discussions were held with the Speaker National Assembly and we will try to benefit from each other experiences. In Punjab, no practical work was done earlier in agriculture sector; however, we are now again starting work on it and things will move towards further improvement, he said.
To a query, Elahi said that meetings have been held with Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser earlier also, Asad Qaiser is a person with seasoned nature. Earlier, in a meeting, both exchanged views about national political situation, affairs in Punjab and other matters of mutual interest. Speaker Asad Qaiser talked to acting Governor Ch Parvez Elahi regarding reforms in the agriculture sector in Punjab.
It may be noted that led by Speaker National Assembly, a delegation of members of National Assembly from Punjab met the CM Usman Buzdar and condemned the organized propaganda against him. They stated that Usman Buzdar is working in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
