Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has said that a final decision regarding the reopening of education institutions across the country will be taken on September 7.
In a press conference on Friday, the minister presented his ministry's two-year performance. He said his ministry gave an outstanding response to the coronavirus pandemic. The minister further said that with the consensus of all provincial education ministers, they closed all educations in March to curb coronavirus.
"A tele school was started on April 7 to teach students," Mahmood said. He said since no examinations were held, four million students were promoted to the next class from class nine to 12.
The ministry will now have a meeting on September 7 to review the coronavirus situation in the country and decide about reopening schools on September 15, the minister said.
Revealing his ministry's future decisions, the minister said that for higher education, 50,000 university students under Ehsaas programme will get scholarships annually. Schools will also teach one curriculum from April next year, he announced.
