KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 145,390 tonnes of cargo comprising 109,783 tonnes of import cargo and 35,607 tonnes of export cargo including 5,096 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 109,783 tonnes comprised of 42,279 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,019 tonnes of steel scrap; 2,455 tonnes of rock phosphate and 62,030 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 35,607 tonnes comprised of 31,733 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,274 tonnes of clinkers and 1,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,096 containers comprising of 2,828 containers of import and 2,268 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 958 of 20's and 858 of 40's loaded while 78 of 20's and 38 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 705 of 20's and 591 of 40's loaded containers while 239 of 20's and 71 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Berlin Express and Kapitan Maslov carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Diyala, KMTC Dubai, MSC Jessenia and Hankuk Chemi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely MT Karachi and Pasific Crown carrying oil tanker and clinkers expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are two vessels viz. YM Summit and Primrose Ace carrying containers and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while five more vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, MSC Hina, Moen Island, MT Lahore and LIV Auerbach carrying containers, oil tanker and steel plates respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 115,463 tonnes comprising of 97,014 tonnes of import cargo and 18,449 tonnes of export cargo including 3,065 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 97,014 tonnes includes 42,725 tonnes of gas oil; 10,483 tonnes of coal; 600 tonnes of LPG; 500 tonnes of palm oil; 2,000 tonnes of canola; 920 tonnes of chemical and 39,786 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,449 tonnes includes 18,449 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,065 containers comprising of 2,094 containers import and 971 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely Al-Salam-II carrying oil tanker sail out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Ludovica, Stove Friend and Gas Amazon carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola, LPG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen vessels viz. Han Hui, KSL Don Yang, Huang Song, King Colton, Jia Yue, Pan Crocus, Emden-IV, Kamari, Ithacki, Chemroad Polris, JBU Opal, Bacco, Gas Amazon, Sereno, Nord Vanus and Sea Hazel carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, LPG, gasoline and crude oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Ithacki and Sereno carrying chemical and gasoline respectively expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There are two ships namely Express Athens and Lisa carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
