KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 92,263 tonnes of cargo comprising 72,085 tonnes of import cargo and 20,178 tonnes of export cargo including 3,483 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 72,085 tonnes comprised of 41,537 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,700 tonnes of DAP; 3,170 tonnes of wheat; 7,822 tonnes of rock phosphate and 12,856 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 20,178 tonnes comprised of 9,810 tonnes of containerised cargo and 10,368 tonnes of clinkers. As many as 3,483 containers comprising of 2,857 containers of import and 626 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 743 of 20's and 1,031 of 40's loaded while 34 of 20's and 09 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 294 of 20's and 108 of 40's loaded containers while 48 of 20's and 34 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely MT Lahore and Navig-8 Sirius carrying oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. Xin Shanghai, Golden Leaf and Sun Nine carrying containers, fertilizer and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
There are five ships namely Xin Shanghai, Esperanza-N, Ever Decent, Bomar Lynx and ECO Atlantic carrying containers, chemical and clinkers respectively expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are five vessels viz. Clemens Schulte, Cosco Belgium, Ever Ursula, Saxonia and Bow Tribute carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while eight more vessels viz. Vasi Moon, Bomar Milione, Hyundai Jakarta, LIV Auerbach, Asavari, Navi Sunny, Genium Star and Xing Shou Hai carrying containers, lab equipment, project cargo and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 131,706 tonnes comprising of 120,135 tonnes of import cargo and 11,571 tonnes of export cargo including 1,179 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 120,135 tonnes includes 56,500 tonnes of coal; 2,000 tonnes of LPG; 7,200 tonnes of palm oil; 12,400 tonnes of soyabean; 22,768 tonnes of steel coil; 5,000 tonnes of gasoline; 3,437 tonnes of palm kernel and 10,830 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,571 tonnes includes 11,571 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,179 containers comprising of 570 containers import and 609 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Northern Javelin and King Cotton carrying containers and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon. A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, LPG, gasoline, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen one vessels viz. MSC Pina, Han Hui, KSL Don Yang, Huang Song, IVS Naruo, Nord Magellon, Elim Peace, IVS Swinley Forest, Ernden-IV, Kamari, Hasan, BW Acorn, Nord Vanus, Al-Soor-II and Felicity carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, canola, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Pina, Maersk Pittspurgh, Feng Hong and IVS Swinley Forest carrying containers, general cargo and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Pittspurgh carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely George Wasington Bridge carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
