LAHORE: The Punjab labour department has decided to provide medical facilities to its workers after their retirement. The decision to this effect was taken during the meeting held among Secretary Labour Amir Jan, Commissioner Punjab Employees Social Security Institution Tanveer Iqbal and Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Ansar Majeed Khan here on Tuesday.
The secretary labour briefed the minister about the performance and the new project of the department. He also apprised the minister about the mechanism for providing medical facilities to the workers after retirement.
The labour minister directed the department to take immediate steps to protect the health of kiln workers. He further directed to ensure the availability of clean drinking water for workers in factories. He said that new projects have been launched for the welfare of the workers in Punjab. He said that the social security department has chalked out a plan to provide better health facilities to the workers and maximum wages. He further directed secretary labour to strictly enforce disbursement of minimum wages to the labour.
