Prime Minister Imran Khan refused on Friday to accept the resignation of his aide on information and broadcasting, Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa.

In a tweet, Senator Faisal Javed Khan said the PM has directed Bajwa to continue working as his aide.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Twitter has also confirmed the news, saying that PM did not accept Bajwa's resignation. "Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he was satisfied with the evidence and explanation presented by Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Bajwa and therefore the Prime Minister directed him to continue his work as Special Assistant," the PT Twitter handle said.

On Thursday, the Chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority, denied allegations leveled against him that he had used his offices in setting up of off-shore businesses of his wife, sons and brothers.

As per the news report, Bajwa’s brothers, wife and children own 99 companies in four countries, more than 130 active franchise restaurants, and 13 commercial properties, including two shopping malls in the United States.

Out of total 99 companies, 66 are main companies, 33 companies are branch companies of some of the main companies while five companies are dead now, the report stated.

Bajwa took to his Twitter handle and wrote that he possessed all the documents about his family’s assets and was ready to present them and the money trail before any judicial forum. Later, he also announced his decision to step down as Special Assistant to the PM on Information and Broadcasting.
