KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 149,066 tonnes of cargo comprising 98,527 tonnes of import cargo and 50,539 tonnes of export cargo including 6,589 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 98,527 tonnes comprised of 54,925 tonnes of ontainerised cargo; 4,428 tonnes of DPA; 5,360 tonnes of wheat and 13,846 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 50,539 tonnes comprised of 20,608 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29,631 tonnes of clinker and 300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,589 containers comprising of 4,054 containers import and 2,535 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 987 of 20's and 1,468 of 40's loaded while 09 of 20's and 61 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 462 of 20's and 382 of 40's loaded containers while 141 of 20's and 584 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, Greenwich Bridge, Bow Tribute and Genius Star carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Visa Moon, Cosco America, MSC Hina, Ever Ursula, Nord Merkur, Doric Breeze and Asavari carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Szczecin Trader, Saxonia and Asavari carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to sail on Friday.
There are ten vessels viz. George Washington, Thor Sky, Hyundai Oakland, Safeen Oryx, MT Karachi, MT Shalamar, Christina Selmer, Port Canton, Cordula Jaccob and Eastern Begonia carrying containers, oil tankers, clinkers, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 129,810 tonnes comprising 108,207 tonnes of import cargo and 21,603 tonnes of export cargo including 1,816 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 108,207 tonnes includes 23,820 tonnes of coal; 36,250 tonnes of LNG; 2,293 tonnes of palm oil; 15,000 tonnes of soyabean; 2,380 tonnes of palm kernel; 4,517 tonnes of gasoline; 6,400 tonnes of gas oil; 1,772 tonnes of chemical; 1,164 tonnes of project cargo and 14,611 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,603 tonnes includes 21,603 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,816 containers comprising of 679 containers import and 1,137 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were three ships namely George Washington, IVS Swinley Forest and Bunga Lily carrying containers, coal and soyabean respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Bentonville and Feng Huan Song carrying containers and steel coil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, LNG, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten vessels viz. Nord Magellan, IVS Naruo, Elim Peace, Amestel Seagull, Kamari, Hasan, Inter Mezzo, Felicity, Amsterdam and Asia Marine carrying coal, cement, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Kamari, Inter Mezzo, Marangas Mystros, Nicolas-3 and Amsterdam carrying cement, chemical, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were three ships namely Safmarine Ngami, MOL Courage and Diyala carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
