Political intervention, negligence worsened Karachi's situation, says PM

  • Imran says development of the metropolis is on top priority of the federal government and it will utilize all resources for the purpose

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that political interference and negligence worsened situation in Karachi. He added that the government will do its best to resolve issues facing the city.

He said this during a meeting with Parliamentary Adviser Dr Babar Awan in Islamabad on Monday.

The PM said that the development of the metropolis is on top priority of the federal government. He maintained that the government will provide funds for the uplift of the city.

Babar Awan appreciated PM’s resolve for addressing the basic issues of the people living in Karachi. On the occasion, the PM reiterated his resolve for early legislation over FATF related bills.

Earlier, Imran Khan announced a historic Rs1,100 billion package for Karachi Transformation Plan. The package would mainly address chronic issues including the water and sewage issues of the city, alongside transport and solid waste management.

The PM said both the federal and provincial governments will contribute to the package as we want to tackle all the issues of the city in one go.
