Constable among four killed in Karachi

At least four persons including a police constable were killed in separate incidents of violence in different areas of the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to police and rescue sources, a cop was shot dead at Gharibabad Goth, Malir in the limits of Malir City Police Station.
Police said that a team of law enforcers on a tip-off conducted raid in Gharibabad Goth to nab some criminals. In the meantime, the criminals opened indiscriminate fire on the police party that resulted in injury to a policeman, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Kareem Deen. He sustained three bullets and was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
However, no criminal was reported hurt or apprehended in the raid. Police said Mushtaq, who was the resident of Malir city and hailed from Gujrat Punjab, was serving in police department for last 20 years. Later, his funeral prayer was offered at Police Headquarter Malir. A 26-year-old man was gunned down at his residence in Faqeer Colony, Orangi Town, in the jurisdiction of Mominabad Police Station.
The victim, who was identified as Abdul Raheem, 26, son of Yaqoob, was targeted by unidentified culprits when he was sleeping at his home. Resultantly, he sustained fatal wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. Police suspected that he might have been murdered over personal ground. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Similarly, unidentified armed men barged into a house near Cheel Chawk, Lyari in the limits of Kalakot Police station and shot dead one, Salma,35, wife of Ghulam Shabbir. The body was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities.
Another man was killed near Iqra University in the jurisdiction of Baloch Colony Police station. Police said the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained while police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical legal formalities.
