MQM, PPP taking advantage of people's deprivation on ethnic grounds: Kamal

KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday said that even a house can't be run the way socio-economic and administrative affairs of Karachi, the economic lifeline and revenue engine of the country, are being managed by the corrupt and incompetent rulers.

PSP chief expressed these views while addressing the newly elected office bearers of Karachi Division's women section Ad-Hoc Committee at Pakistan House.

Kamal said those who are hell bent upon fanning ethnic hatred amongst Sindhis and Muhajirs by doing politics on province outside the Parliament can't even open their mouths for the very purpose inside the assemblies. They are the real enemies of the Muhajir community.

To protect and prolong its politics - which is based on prejudice and rampant corruption - the PPP is endangering the lives of Sindhis in urban areas of the province whereas MQM is endangering the lives of Muhajirs in interior Sindh.

Both the PPP and the MQM are well aware of the fact that MQM cannot take control of a gutter line, nor can separate a street in Liaquatabad.

Three generations of Muhajirs have perished, but they [MQM] want more bloodshed to perpetuate their dirty politics.

On the other hand PPP asks the poor Sindhis to forget starvation, clothing, shelter, dog bites, destruction of educational institutions, health centres and civic facilities, and support PPP to protect Sindh, the motherland, from division by the hands of MQM.

Kamal said both the parties, despite all their wrongdoings, have been taking advantage of the deprivation of the people on ethnic grounds to prolong their politics.

Instead cities, districts and UCs being autonomous through the 18th constitutional amendment, the Chief Minister has become powerful. Funds are not being transferred to the grass root level.

The PPP and the MQM will not solve the problem because they are the root cause of the plight of Sindh.

Administrative and financial autonomy needs to be devolved to the lowest level, state institutions must play their part and focus on fundamental reforms along with monetary package so that problems can be permanently resolved and the whole of Pakistan embarks on a new journey of development along with Karachi.
