LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Friday extended interim pre-arrest bail of Capt Muhammad Safdar (Retd), son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif till September 16 in a case of attacking police at arrival of the PML-N's vice president, Maryam Nawaz, at the office of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore.
Safdar, along with his legal team, appeared before the court. A heavy contingent of police was deployed to maintain law and order situation and a number of PML-N workers also reached outside the court. Chung police had registered the FIR against several leaders and 58 nominated PML-N workers.
Talking to media, Safdar alleged that special assistant to the prime minister, Mirza Shahzad Akbar, was the mastermind of police attack outside the NAB office. He said the case under the terrorism charge was registered at the behest of government.
