ISLAMABAD: Despite tall claims of the city police, the incidents of robbery, snatching at gunpoint, and motor vehicle theft witnessed a spike during the last week in the federal Capital.
According to the data gathered by Business Recorder, carjackers stole or snatched 14 vehicles including motorbikes, and robbers struck at 11 different places in the capital city depriving citizen of valuables worth millions of rupees during the last week.
Over five cases of abduction, predominantly of women were reported to the city's various police stations in the same period.
During the last week, the most favourite areas for criminal gangs were within the limits of Ramna, Golra, Karachi Company, Sabzi Mandi, and Tarnol police stations.
In the same period, Ramna Police Station registered two cases each of kidnapping, two cases of auto theft, and one case of snatching at gunpoint.
One person informed Ramna Police Station that unidentified persons kidnapped his daughter.
Another person lodged a complaint with Ramna Police Station that unidentified persons kidnapped his daughter.
Haseebur Rehman registered a complaint with Ramna Police Station that two unidentified armed persons snatched mobile worth Rs 100,000 from him.
Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number AJT-097 belonging to Umer Farooq worth Rs 2,400,000, and lifted another car bearing registration number AJS 993 belonging to Malik Tariq worth Rs 130,000.
Similarly, two cases of snatching at gunpoint and one case each of car jacking and kidnapping were reported to Karachi Company Police Station, during last week.
Moreover, auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIV-1151 belonging to Rashid Usman worth Rs 100,000.
Hameed Ullah lodged a complaint with Karachi Company Police Station that three armed persons snatched cash and a bike bearing registration number MM-730 worth Rs 55,000.
Iqrar Hussain informed Karachi Company Police Station that accused, Zaiba and others had allegedly kidnapped his son, Zulqarnain Haider.
Muhammad Arshad informed Karachi Company Police Station that two armed persons riding a bike snatched Rs 100,000 from him, and escaped from the scene.
During the last week, three cases of auto theft and two cases of robbery were reported to the Golra Police Station during the last week.
Muhammad Aslam Khan lodged a complaint that unidentified persons stole building material worth Rs 125,000.
Carjackers stole a car bearing registration number EF-824 belonging to Saira Aslam worth Rs2,000,000, lifted another car bearing registration number AMA-922 belonging to Mian Iman Shah worth Rs 200,000, and lifted a bike bearing registration number AWR-004 belonging to Annus Ahmed Raza.
Muhammad Ramzan informed Golra Police Station that his housemaid stole gold ornaments worth Rs 200,000 from his house.
One case each of robbery, kidnapping and auto theft were reported to Tarnol Police Station during last week.
Saeed Khan Masud informed Tarnol Police Station that four armed persons stormed into his house and held his family hostage at gunpoint and looted cash, gold ornaments, watches and other valuables worth Rs 1,600,000.
Dawlat Khan lodged a complaint with Tarnol Police Station that around seven to eight persons kidnapped his brother, Shawali.
Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIL-3667 belonging to Sohail Anwar worth Rs 50,000.
Sabzi Mandi Police Station registered two cases of auto theft and one case of snatching at gunpoint.
Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIN-1502 belonging to Muhammad Yahya Khan worth Rs 250,000, and lifted a bike RIK-8641 belonging to Ihsan Ullah worth Rs 30,000.
Mehboob Ullah informed Sabzi Mandi Police Station that two armed persons snatched a mobile from him.
During the last week, Industrial Area Police Station registered one case each of auto theft and snatching at gunpoint.
Bani Gala registered two cases of auto theft, while one case each of robbery was reported to Kohsar, Shams Colony and Women police stations.
