KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange Monday witnessed a mixed trend and after moving both ways, closed flat due to investors' lack of interest.
BRIndex100 closed at 4,442.46 points, up 3.96 points or 0.09 percent. BRIndex100 hit intraday high of 4,459.78 and intraday low of 4,424.16 points. Volumes stood at 459.668 million shares.
BRIndex30 gained 41.88 points or 0.18 percent to close at 22,840.25 points with a turnover of 297.759 million shares.
The KSE-100 Index closed at 42,531.31 points, up only 0.64 points. Daily trading volumes on the ready counter stood at 509.522 million shares as compared to 526.186 million shares traded on previous session.
Foreign investors however remained net buyers of shares worth $56,831. Total market capitalization declined by Rs 8 billion to Rs 7.966 trillion. Out of total 428 active scrips, 231 closed in negative and 184 in positive while the value of 13 stocks remained unchanged.
Hascol Petroleum was the volume leader with 67.076 million shares and gained Rs 0.91 to close at Rs 22.99 followed by Pak Int. Bulk Terminal that inched up by Rs 0.40 to close at Rs 13.95 with 42.942 million shares. Nestle Pakistan and Hinopak Motor were the top gainers increasing by Rs 136.99 and Rs 46.70 respectively to close at Rs 6787.00 and Rs 669.47 while Unilever Foods and Island Textile were the top losers declining by Rs 100.00 and Rs 66.08 respectively to close at Rs 13400.00 and Rs 937.00.
BR Automobile Assembler Index decreased by 45.99 points or 0.57 percent to close at 7,970.45 points with total turnover of 3.266 million shares.
BR Cement Index lost 20.45 points or 0.34 percent to close at 5,980.10 points with 36.268 million shares.
BR Commercial Banks Index inched up by 23.41 points or 0.27 percent to close at 8,615.25 points with 61.312 million shares.
BR Power Generation and Distribution Index increased by 27.56 points or 0.53 percent to close at 5,242.08 points with 22.178 million shares.
BR Oil and Gas Index closed at 4,205.03 points, up 2.86 points or 0.07 percent with 83.223 million shares.
BR Tech. & Comm. Index fell by 22.27 points or 1.1 percent to close at 2,000.68 points with 35.456 million shares.
Maaz Mulla at JS Global Capital said that the local bourse started the week with the KSE-100 index juggling between green and red, making an intraday high of plus 190 points and a low of minus 163 points to close flat at 42,531 levels.
Major gainers of the day were HUBC (up 0.9 percent), PSO (up 1.7 percent), HBL (up 0.7 percent) and HASCOL (up 4.1 percent) while on the flipside ENGRO (down 0.1 percent), PPL (down 1.5 percent), DGKC (down 2.8 percent) and SYS (down 1.7 percent) were the major laggards of the day.
In the cement sector, selling pressure was witnessed in DGKC (down 2.8 percent) and POWER (down 1.9 percent) while MLCF (up 1.2 percent), PIOC (up 0.6 percent) and KOHC (up 1.1 percent) gained to close higher than their previous day close.
