KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 100,923 tonnes of cargo comprising 53,388 tonnes of import cargo and 47,535 tonnes of export cargo including 5,564 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 53,388 tonnes comprised of 27,668 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,007 tonnes of DAP; 6,199 tonnes of wheat and 9,514 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 47,535 tonnes comprised of 26,122 tonnes of containerised cargo and 21,413 tonnes of clinker.
As many as 5,564 containers comprising of 2,232 containers import and 3,332 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 610 of 20's and 663 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 146 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 735 of 20's and 293 of 40's loaded containers while 599 of 20's and 706 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Edison, Wieland and FOS Spirit carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Saxonia, Ginga Merlin, Olympus and Stellar Hudson carrying containers, oil tanker, wheat and talcum powder respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Grace carrying clinker expected to sail on Thursday.
There is one vessel viz. Cosco Oceania carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, Cosco Rotterdam and DS Cougar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected due to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 214,407 tonnes comprising 175,863 tonnes of import cargo and 38,544 tonnes of export cargo including 3,086 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 175,863 tonnes tonnes includes 59,529 tonnes of coal; 58,333 tonnes of LNG; 7,500 tonnes of palm oil; 24,396 tonnes of gasoline; 1,500 tonnes of LPG and 24,605 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,544 tonnes includes 4,515 tonnes of cement; 34,029 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,086 containers comprising of 1,295 containers import and 1,791 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Detroit carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely Le Harve, Ocean Banquet, African Pheasant, Gas Arma and Seri Balqis carrying containers, coal, LPG and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, LPG, LNG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twenty vessels viz. Express Rome, Adames, Izumo, Great Pioneer, Star Lotus, Osiris, Yangze Venus, Banglar Ag Radoot, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, Gas Amazon, Al Shamal, Nora Venus, Feeder, Aponia, MT Shalamar, Melody, Ahtigoni, Nord Harmony and Torm Atlantic carrying general cargo, coal, cement, veg oil, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil, furnace oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Maersk Brooklyn, Express Rome, Osiris, Al Shamal and Chemroad Sea carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
