ISLAMABAD: Prices of essential kitchen items especially, vegetables, chicken, eggs, and sugar continued witnessing an upward trend, a survey carried out by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.
The survey noted a stability in wheat flour price at Rs950 per 15kg bag in wholesale market, which in retail has reached Rs1,000 per 15kg bag, and sugar price further jumped from Rs4,600 per 50kg bag to Rs4,730 per 50kg bag in wholesale market, which in retail is being sold in the range of Rs100-105 per kg.
Egg prices have once again jumped from Rs125 per dozen to Rs133 per dozen in wholesale market, which in retail are being sold at Rs140-145 per dozen against Rs125 a dozen. Chicken prices went up from Rs5,800 per 40kg to Rs5,600 per 40kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs165 per kg against Rs150-160 per kg, while chicken meat is available at Rs260 per kg against Rs250 per kg.
The survey observed an increase in the prices of almost all the vegetables as spinach was the least expensive vegetable at Rs35per kg, while peas the most expensive at Rs175 per kg. Ginger price in wholesale market went up from Rs2,700 per 5kg to Rs2,750 per 5kg, while in retail, it is being sold at Rs650 per kg against Rs630 per kg. Garlic prices went up from Rs650 per 5kg to Rs700 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs180 per kg against Rs170 per kg.
Tomato price jumped from Rs430 per 5kg to Rs470 per 5kg, which in retail, is being sold at Rs100 per kg against Rs90 per kg, and potato price remained unchanged at Rs350 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs80 per kg. Onion price went down from Rs270 per 5kg to Rs250 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs60 per kg.
Bean price jumped from Rs475 per 5 to Rs485 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs115 per kg against Rs110 per kg, pumpkin price went down from Rs500 per 5kg to Rs375 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs90 per kg against Rs120 per kg, okra price went down from Rs260 per 5kg to Rs200 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs50 per kg against Rs60 per kg, bitter gourd price went up from Rs280 per 5kg to Rs350 per 5kg, which in retail is being sold at Rs80 per kg against Rs70 per kg.
