Nawaz may announce his return in APC today

LAHORE: While the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has finalized its recommendations for the All Parties Conference (APC) being held in Islamabad on Sunday (Sept 20), the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in his address to the conference may announce schedule of his return to the country.

Sources claimed that there are a few hardliners within the party who want either Maryam Nawaz or Nawaz Sharif to spearhead the movement against Imran Khan-led government. They want the PML-N supremo to break his silence and play a more political role. However, there is no second opinion within the PML-N that Nawaz Sharif must focus on his treatment and return to the country after recovery, the sources said.

The sources further claimed that the PML-N will present suggestions of midterm polls, public protest movement for anti-government drive in November and weekly protests outside assemblies.

Led by the Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif, the PML-N delegation for the APC will comprise of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Nawaz, Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Asif, Pervaiz Rashid, Rana Sanaullah, Amir Muqam, Rana Tanveer and Marriyum Aurangzeb. However, some more party leaders may be included in the party delegation.

On the other hand, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill in a tweet said on Saturday that the PEMRA and other legal options would be used if Nawaz Sharif addresses the APC.

In a tweet, he said: "How is it possible that a fugitive carries out political activities and gives speeches? The Sharif clan can only spew lies. They are such big liars that they also lie about [their] medical conditions."

Referring to this, Maryam Nawaz suggested the party live stream Nawaz's address on social media platforms so that it cannot be blocked in the country. "We are doing that [God willing]," she wrote.
