TDCP to host 'Family Fun, Water Sports Festival'

Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) is arranging a two-day 'Family Fun and Water Sports Festival' at Dharabi Lake (Balkasar) on 14 and 15 July, to promote tourism and highlight the tourism sites situated in far flung areas of the province.
The Corporation in collaboration with Lahore Marina Boat Club is arranging rowing, water scooter and water skiing competition in which, teams of different departments would be competing including TDCP, Marina Boat Club, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Rowing Federation and rescue 1122.
Whole event has been given a festival look aimed at popularising Dharabi Lake amongst tourists and promoting water sports in the province. Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ali Khan will be the chief guest of this festival where food stalls, play land for kids and adventure tourism has also been arranged by the Corporation, said Managing Director TDCP Habib ur Rehman Gillani here on Thursday.
He said that the Corporation is working hard on promotion of tourism in the province and introducing new dimensions, promoting tourism sites not known to the masses and encouraging youth to take part in such healthy and creative activities. He said recently held 'Cholistan rally' is an example of it due to which, Cholistan now has become a popular tourism place during winter.
Meanwhile Advisor to the Chief Minister for Tourism, Imran Ali Goraya in a separate statement said that the family festival being arranged at Dharabi Lake on July 14 and 15, is an effort to promote soft image of the country and the province both in and outside the country besides promotion of tourism activities.
