Traders welcome FBR's new chief

The trade and industrial sector has welcomed the appointment of senior bureaucrat Ali Arshad Hakeem as Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). In a statement, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) Paton In-Chief S M Muneer, Chairman Ehtesham Uddin, All Karachi Industrial Alliance President Mian Zahid Hussain, Vice Chairmen Hasham A Razzak and Tariq Malik, and Chairman Kati Standing Committee on Press and Media Syed Johar Ali Qandhari while welcoming the appointment of Arshad Hakeem to head FBR said Hakeem had vast experience and had served on various positions.
They hoped that newly appointed FBR Chief would maintain the cordial relations between business community and FBR. They hoped that unlike the practice by former chairmen of FBR he would not focus only on collecting revenue but try to reform the taxation system by lowering tax slabs and providing maximum relief to the already overburdened tax payers.
They further advised the FBR's new Chief to give priority to raise new taxpayers and enlarge tax net by persuading non taxpayers to get into tax net and improve revenue collection.
They assured their co-operation to Hakeem in his quest to provide relief to the trade and industry.-PR
