Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 194,017 tonnes of cargo comprising 167,781 tonnes of import cargo and 26,236 tonnes of export cargo including 7,074 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 167,781 tonnes comprised of 66,203 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,935 tonnes of bulk cargo; 10,624 tonnes of DAP; 16,145 tonnes of wheat and 64,503 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 26,236 tonnes comprised of 21,986 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of bulk cargo and 4,200 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 7,074 containers comprising of 4,648 containers import and 2,426 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,654 of 20’s and 1,478 of 40’s loaded while 08 of 20’s and 15 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 691 of 20’s and 168 of 40’s loaded containers while 599 of 20’s and 400 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Hyundai Goodwill, CMA CGM Racine, Cosco Rotterdam, AS Sophia, Incredible Blue and FPMC-29 carrying containers, DAP and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Hong Kong Express, AS Sophia, YM Cosmos, Asavari, Crown Virtue and Star Omicron carrying containers, chemical, clinkers and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely MOL Grandeur, MT Lahore and Coventry carrying containers, oil tanker and wheat respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are four vessels viz. Amagi Galaxy, DS Cougar, Amagi Galaxy and DS Cougar carrying oil tankers, cement and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four vessels viz. Botany Bay, Straum, Pacific Talent and Han Yi carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 293,534 tonnes comprising 252,492 tonnes of import cargo and 41,042 tonnes of export cargo including 3,789 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 252,492 tonnes tonnes includes 46,110 tonnes of coal; 3,518 tonnes of palm oil; 1,007 tonnes of gas oil; 3,000 tonnes of chemical; 6,810 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,660 tonnes of LPG and 47,652 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 41,042 tonnes includes 6,297 tonnes of cement and 12,388 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,789 containers comprising of 2,095 containers import and 1,694 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely African Wagtail, SC Falcon, MT Shalamar and Nord Harmony carrying coal, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen vessels viz. Maersk Sebarok, GS Sky Herries, Kmarin Bosan, SBI Hermes, Banglar Ag Radoot, Gas Amazon, Al Nuaman, Nord Venus, Leader, Adamos-1, Al-Soor-II, Melody, Victory and Antigani carrying containers, coal, veg oil, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil, furnace oil and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Maersk Sebarok, Banglar Ag Radoot, Al Nuaman, Victory and Antigani carrying containers, veg oil, furnace oil and palm kernel expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There are two ships namely Athenian and Aldi Wave carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
