KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 154,287 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,674 tonnes of import cargo and 69,613 tonnes of export cargo including 7,987 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 84,674 tonnes comprised of 38,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,020 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,595 tonnes of DAP; 13,627 tonnes of wheat; 8,150 tonnes of rock phosphate and 7,820 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 69,613 tonnes comprised of 43,401 tonnes of containerised cargo and 26,212 tonnes of clinkers.
As many as 7,987 containers comprising of 2,384 containers import and 5,603 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 854 of 20's and 760 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 05 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,343 of 20's and 514 of 40's loaded containers while 468 of 20's and 1,382 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Conti Courage, MSC Cheryl-3, Esperanza-N, Jag Aanchal and Canadian Highway carrying containers, mogas and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. CMA CGM Moliere, Kota Nilam, Shiling, Chemroad Lily and Yu Jin Ace carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely CMA CGM Moliere, Star Omicron and Xin Xiang Hai carrying containers, rock phosphate and clinkers to sail on Tuesday.
There are five vessels viz. MTC Mumbai, Hyundai Platinum, Chesapeake Bay, APL Chongqing and Da Tong Yun carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Kalamoti Trader, MT Karachi, Liberty Promise, Tai Splendor and Han Yi carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle, clinkers and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 217,737 tonnes comprising 191,935 tonnes of import cargo and 25,802 tonnes of export cargo including 4,108 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 191,935 tonnes tonnes includes 32,260 tonnes of coal; 55,750 tonnes of LNG; 22,000 tonnes of palm oil; 2,610 tonnes of palm kernel; 13,367 tonnes of gasoline; 10,000 tonnes of canola; 3,698 tonnes of chemical and 52,250 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,802 tonnes includes 25,802 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,108 containers comprising of 2,750 containers import and 1,358 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Meridian Spirit and Nord Venus carrying LNG and gasoline respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four more ships namely MSC Paris, MSC Cheryl, Happy Kestrel and Silver Devel carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, canola, LPG, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. Datong Yun, Kastro, Ithomi, Valkyie, Msxt Astria, Ginga Jaguar, Than Binh-127, Tomson Gas, Gas Athena, White Purl, Gulf Coast, Leader, Al-Soor-II and Melody carrying general cargo, coal, chemical, cement, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. Maersk Columbus, Ithomi, Ginga Jaguar and Melody carrying containers, coal, chemical and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Columbus carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
