KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 163,395 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,367 tonnes of import cargo and 60,028 tonnes of export cargo including 6,211 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 103,367 tonnes comprised of 40,542 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,397 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,004 tonnes of DAP; 12,221 tonnes of wheat and 42,203 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 60,028 tonnes comprised of 29,341 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,787 tonnes of clinkers and 10,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,211 containers comprising of 3,022 containers import and 3,189 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 811 of 20's and 1,100 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 05 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 754 of 20's and 311 of 40's loaded containers while 511 of 20's and 651 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Kalamoti Trader, Hyundai Platinum, MOL Generosity, Chesapeake Bay, DS Cougar, Chem Argon, Petali Lady and Rowan-3 carrying containers, oil tankers. chemical, mogas and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Cosco Taicang, Xin Qing Dao, Chemroad Aqua, Stolt Courage, JO Redwood, Eships Progress and Tai Splendor carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely MT Karachi carrying oil tanker respectively to sail on Friday.
There are four vessels viz. Northern Discovery, MT Lahore, DM Jade and Morgenstond-II carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. MSC Tavvishi, Ubena, AS Roberta, OEL Kedarnath, Avanti and Mariann carrying containers and mogas respectively are expected due to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 112,714 tonnes comprising 77,954 tonnes of import cargo and 34,760 tonnes of export cargo including 3,077 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 77,954 tonnes tonnes includes 25,610 tonnes of coal; 25,572 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,374 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,500 tonnes of canola; 3,070 tonnes of LPG; 1,000 tonnes of mogas and 30,400 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,760 tonnes includes 6,697 tonnes of cement and 28,063 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,077 containers comprising of 1,600 containers import and 1,477 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were five ships namely CMA CGM Butterfly, Josephine Maersk, Ithomi, Tan Binh-127 and Tomson gas carrying containers, coal, chemical and LPG respectively expected to sail on Friday afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, canola, LPG, furnace oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. Safmarine Nyassa, Datong Yun, Global Rose, Kastro, Manta Asli, Valkyie, Star Hercules, SSI Triumph, Gas Athena, White Purl, Gulf Coast, Leader and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Datong Yun, SSI Triumph and Chemroad Journey carrying general cargo, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
There are three ships namely Diyala, Chemroad Journey and Kano carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday.
