ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan on Friday announced the reopening of Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, in the wake of an "overall improvement" in the Covid-19 situation, allowing Indian and local pilgrims to visit the Gurdwara subject to the observance of coronavirus safety protocols.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony on Friday, the reopening would take effect immediately.
The Indian visitors, according to the notification, are allowed to come daily from dawn to dusk as per the bilateral agreement signed in 2019 between India and Pakistan.
They have been requested to comply with the precautionary measures against the Covid-19. The local visitors will also be able to visit the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib from dawn to dusk daily subject to the observance of the Covid-19 safety protocols. Visits to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur had been suspended for the pilgrims in March this year in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
